Marjorie Bay Bait Ball

On the way back from Eagle Bay we spotted this huge bait ball getting hammered from above and below. We suspect Tuna and or Mackies below and everything from Mutton Birds to Seagulls above the water. The water was simply boiling with these poor little fishing trying to survive the onslaught.

Fortunately I had my trusty 1D with me and was able to capture the moment!

Perhaps it would have been better on this occasion to have a rod and lure rather than a camera!!

  1. Sounds awesome Mark!

When we were up at Carnarvon over Christmas we were watching a group of terns driving into the water. They were hitting the water so fast that I’ve heard that if they don’t time their dive perfectly they can break their neck!

    • Yes that’s right mate!

I have seen video footage of dead birds floating around with their necks all screwed up!

      Cheers,

      Mark

  2. Hey Mark, Mate you should of cast out a nice fat popper across that blue bubbling stretch of water or got under water for some serious national geographic style images.
    cheers Adrian
